IIA NATIONAL AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE 2018

The objective of the IIA National Awards for Excellence in Architecture 2018 (also referred to as the ‘Award’ or ‘Awards’ herein) is to encourage, acknowledge, appreciate and honour the creative contribution of the IIA members in the field of architecture. The Awards are presented annually and carry a Memento and Citation in each category.


Award Categories

For the purpose of these Awards, the entries shall be adjudged in the following categories:
  • RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS - A
    Single Family Dwellings, Bungalows, Villas, Mansions, Farm houses etc.
  • RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS - B
    Multi-Family Dwellings, Group Housing, Multi-Storied Apartments, Gated Communities etc.
  • COMMERCIAL PROJECTS
    Corporate/Office Buildings, Business and Commercial Centres, Shopping Centres, Malls etc.
  • PUBLIC / INSTITUTIONAL PROJECTS
    Educational/Institutional Buildings, Healthcare Projects, Public Buildings, Sports Complexes, Religious Buildings, Art & Cultural Centres etc.
  • INDUSTRIAL / INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
    Factory Buildings/Structures, Workshops, Transport Terminals, Toll Plazas etc.
  • INTERIOR PROJECTS - RESIDENTIAL
  • INTERIOR PROJECTS - NON RESIDENTIAL
  • HOSPITALITY & RECREATION PROJECTS
    Hotels & Resorts, Amusement Parks & Multiplexes
  • CONSERVATION PROJECTS
    Adaptive Reuse, Retrofitting / Restoration of Old and Heritage sites/structures
  • ARCHITECTURE UNBUILT PROJECTS
    Designed but not built as on date - (1 to 8 categories)
  • LANDSCAPE PROJECTS
    All Landscape Projects.
  • SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE ARCHITECTURE
    Sustainable Low Cost Regeneration of existing Social Housing and Community, Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Post-Construction.
  • RESEARCH PROJECTS
    Original concise Architectural Research works.

Period

  • The IIA AWARDS 2018 shall cover projects completed between 1st January, 2014 and 31st December, 2018.
  • Those projects which has been awarded for the earlier IIA awards cannot be considered.

The deadline for submitting your entries is 20th August 2019, 5:00pm.
25th AUGUST 2019, 5:00 PM
The last date for receiving the DD at Mumbai is 25th August 2019, 5:00 PM

Entry Documents

The submission process is entirely online, through our website www.iiaawards.com

The participants are requested to upload the following documents –

A maximum of upto 6 jpeg format sheets set to A3 size are to be uploaded (maximum size of entire set to be uploaded should be 30 MB or less), explaining the design with relevant drawings, sketches and photographs. Presentation can be in B&W or colour. Please ensure that all the drawings are legible and are not superimposed over other images.

A Report Document in a single A4 in Microsoft Word format (.doc, .docx or .pdf) is to be uploaded, giving the relevant project details explaining the concept, context, constraints, innovations, interesting construction technologies etc. (Colour – Black. Font – Arial. Size – 12)

Fully filled entry form is to be uploaded. Incomplete entry forms will not be accepted.

A brief biodata of the architect / firm with a recent passport size colour photograph.

A self attested Declaration from the participant stating that the project is an original work and that it conforms to relevant building bylaws and development conditions applicable at the time & place in case and further that no action is pending against the said project in any statutory authority concerned with the project.

In case of an entry submitted by partnership firm of architects, at least one of the firm's partners must be valid member of IIA. Further, in case such entry wins an award, the Award and Certificate shall be given in the name of the valid IIA member of the firm.

A Member can send one or more project entries in any number of categories. Separate set of Entry Form & mandatory enclosures shall be submitted for each entry (project).

Please note that in the submitted drawings, reports etc. participants should not mention their name or IIA Membership Number or any other identifying mark.In case of rehabilitation, conservation or restoration projects, entry must include details / documentation of the prior existing structure along with photographs.

Entries containing more than 6 numbers or bigger than A3 size sheet will be disqualified.

The entry material sent to IIA for the AWARDS will be retained as property of IIA. The Indian Institute of Architects shall be free to publish the entries in Institute's publications or display the same in Exhibitions organized by the Institute. No claims for compensation shall entertained by the IIA on any account.

Entry Fee

Entry fee per entry : Rs 5000 + 18% GST.
Entry fee per entry for Architects of age 30 years or under: Rs 2500* + 18% GST.

*Please note that in a group submission, all Architects in the team must be under the age of 30 years.

The entry fee have to be deposited per entry separately by way of DD in favour of ‘IIA’ payable at Mumbai. The DD is to be taken prior to uploading the documents in the website. A scanned copy of the DD is to be uploaded in the website along with the rest of the documents. The Code number generated for each entry is to be written by hand on the back of the DD and the same is to be mailed to –
